Senior Process Engineer/Process Engineering Manager

The Senior Process Engineer/Process Engineering Manager role leads and oversees all processing engineering functions including, but not limited to process design and optimization, scale up, monitoring and optimizing process up-time, compounding equipment knowledge, FMI creation and maintenance, and OTC Validations.  The person in this position is responsible to develop and sustain manufacturing processes to meet or exceed the technical requirements of our customers while achieving quality, throughput, and cost objectives.  The candidate also leads the implementation of scale up practices and FDA/GMP documentation adherence for both OTC and non-OTC products.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assure sound engineering and validation principals are applied to process design and execution such that they are simplified, trouble free, and aim for success every time (zero defects).
  • Write, review, and sign off on validation protocols for OTC products making active ingredient claims to ensure FDA compliance.  Update existing OTC validation templates for continuous improvement where necessary.
  • Define, characterize, and lead the implementation of new manufacturing processes in collaboration with formulation team and compounding.  
  • Manufacture pilot batches for skin care and color cosmetic products in development.
  • Write correction procedures for bulks that are authorized for re-work to correct an out of specification issue.
  • Serve as a Scrum Team liaison for the process engineering team for new product development.
  • Investigate all out of specification issues on bulk formulas in Production.
  • Assist with equipment selection and drive implementation of new equipment.
  • Manage projects to assure on-time/on budget implementation.
  • Ensure GMP compliance of compounding and PE equipment by performing routine audits.
  • Lead process improvements while mentoring others to improve processes.
  • Develop commercialization risk assessments with R&D chemists, Quality and Operations ahead of scale-up to ensure the appropriate resources (time and people) are applied for successful product transition from lab to plant. 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the Engineering field, advanced degree a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in CPG engineering, continuous improvement or related field
  • Demonstrated history of driving manufacturing process continuous improvement/efficiencies
  • Solid project management skills
  • Effective communicator that can excel in a dynamic environment with little supervision or daily direction

Lead Maintenance Technician

Lead Maintenance Technician

Night Shift – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 645pm to 7am alternating Tuesdays 645pm to 3am

Day Shift – Thursday, Friday, Saturday 645am to 7pm alternating Tuesdays 645am to 3pm

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for leading all maintenance activities on the shift, training and mentoring the junior maintenance technicians, coordinating with production leadership to fulfill productions maintenance needs, relay and enforce the Autumn Harp work rules and the expectations of the Maintenance Supervisor in his absence.  Advanced trouble shooting, maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of all filling and packaging machinery and systems.  Must be able to evaluate, set-up, test, and improve packaging process and designs.  The ability to analyze engineering technology, product specification needs, and testing procedures from planning to fulfillment review is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Mentors and trains the other technicians on shift.
  • Installs, repairs, adjusts, overhauls, and maintains packaging machinery and associated equipment in good working order. Performs maintenance duties on the packaging line when the line is running, as necessary.
  • Provide technical support for high-speed packaging line equipment both mechanically and electrically.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct a variety of different technologies and equipment such as: tube filling, blister sealing, shrink wrapping, cream/lotion filling, hot dosing, labeling, component sorting, cartoners, casepackers, palletizers, and robotics.
  • Proven ability to diagnose technical problems with and without schematics/drawings.
  • Ensure all work meets all quality and safety standards while adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, repair and continuous improvement of all machinery and equipment.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
     

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience within an industrial setting using filling and packaging equipment.
  • College’s degree in technical field preferred, not required.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in filling and packaging operations
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and how/where they interconnect.
  • Equipment Analysis, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills.
  • Industrial automation controls experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to meet all internal and external customer needs.
Bulk/Material Handler

E2 Shift – Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6:50am – 7:00pm

E4 Shift – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 6:50pm – 7:00am

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the main responsibilities for this position are to manage, prep and prepare all materials for production.  Must be able to perform all duties and meet qualifications of a Production Operator as it would require working on the line.   Must be able to pass a baseline assessment; handle 50 lbs. routinely, 75 lbs. occasionally; ability to stand for long periods on a regular basis, and able to climb ladders safely.

Requirements include:

• Meet with previous shifts bulk handler and Team Leads to determine and discuss the status of current and approaching orders as they pertain to bulk.

• Consult all available resources to prioritize and plan:

   o   Pouring record

   o   Day By Hour sheet

   o   Machine Operators

   o   All Team Leads

   o   Batchroom Kettle VNC

   o   Batchroom Team Lead

   o   VNC Production board

   o   Labor Planner

• At the end of the shift, meet with the next shift bulk handler and cross shift team leader to exchange information.

• Routinely check the temperature for all heated bulk

• Shop for all needed Bulk

• Keep all bulk BIN locations up to date with their physical locations

• Check for testing and approval results for required bulk

• Ensure all flavor and color checks are completed

• Keep the VNC board updated throughout the shift

• Fill out bulk pre-event sheets

• Make sure all upcoming orders have all the appropriate equipment assembled and sanitized

• Ensure all cleaning logs have been updated to include relevant data

• Ensure Bulk-Pallet worksheets are up to date

• Work in a safe and diligent manner to make sure company guidelines are met

Minimum requirements:

Production Operator

E2 - Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6:50am to 7:00pm

E3 – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 6:50pm to 7:00am

Quality-minded, dependable individuals are needed to join our talented production team.  Our ideal candidates must be reliable, honest and respectful; and possess sound reading and math skills. Prior experience in manufacturing and mechanical aptitude, a plus.  Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position; which includes the ability to lift 30 lbs or more; able to stand and walk for 12hrs/day; able to perform exacting tasks by hand. 

Reconciler

The Reconciler reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for understanding the full manufacturing order cycle to verify an order has been completed and that no additional quantities or activities are expected in order to close each record in our MRP database.  The Order Reconciler must have excellent organizational and communication skills, a fine attention to detail and be proficient in Microsoft Office. 

  • Job Responsibilities:

    -          Accurately and efficiently complete the closure and partial closure of manufacturing records

    -          Analyze and calculate inventory usage, returns, waste and produced as it pertains to records

    -          Collects, reviews, and inputs data into a computer processing system

    -          Problem solve quantity discrepancies through inventory validation

    -          Verifying quantities and lots of pouring and packaging records

    -          Perform inventory and record adjustments upon supervisor approval

    -          Weighing and calculating waste on production records

    -          Maintain documents for weight count data of returned/defective materials

    -          Researches and resolves variances on orders

    -          Audits clerical computations in batch records against finished products

    -          Interface with Production, Finance, Warehouse, Quality and other departments 

    Required Skills:

Weigher

Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

The Weigher would be responsible for weighing and measuring the raw materials required for our Compounders and R&D department. The basic responsibilities of the position include: weighing out raw materials; inventory paperwork; and material handling in compliance with specific inventory control procedures.

Essential Job Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic chemistry or food science. 
  • Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift 30lbs frequently, and up to 75lbs occasionally

Compounder

E2 Shift - Thursday, Friday, Saturday 7:00am to 7:00pm

Our Compounders are responsible for making batches of our formulations. The ideal candidates will be quality-minded, dependable, have a positive and team oriented attitude with strong problem solving abilities. Compounders ensure that all products are batched according to the manufacturing instructions provided.

Warehouse Associate

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Associate will be responsible for making sure orders get picked correctly and deliveries get out on time.   The right candidate will have the ability to communicate well – both externally and internally; be a team player with a strong work ethic; ability to work productively and independently is essential.  Must be detailed-oriented, highly organized and have previous experience in all warehouse activities including inventory control, shipping systems data entry, forklift operation, and general warehouse reporting functions. 

 Requirements:

  • Must meet the physical requirements of the position
  • Ability to be forklift certified
  • Utilize inventory control equipment; scanning and bar-coding equipment
  • Experience in lean methodologies and international shipping guidelines, a plus. 
Sanitation Officer

E1 Shift - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 7am to 7pm

E3 Shift - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 7pm to 7am

We are looking for a dependable, full-time employee for the washroom.  Sanitation officers are responsible for the overall cleaning and sanitizing of processing equipment including batch buckets, kettles and other items used in the operation.  Sanitation Officers must be able to have a positive attendance record, have the ability to speak, understand and read English; must strictly adhere to all safety procedures and meet the physical requirements of the job; which include, but not limited to standing/walking for 12-hours shift and lifting up to 50 lbs.  Mechanical aptitude and inclination a plus.

Quality Assurance Coordinator

Reporting to the Director, Quality, this position works closely with the Quality team to help to ensure the Autumn Harp quality compliance programs are up-to-date and accurate.  This will include tracking and executing calibrations and pest control, data entry, overseeing the water sampling program and results, and ensuring documentation is properly completed, stored, and tracked.  The QA Coordinator helps to represents the Quality Department in the manufacturing environment and has significant cross-departmental interaction across the company.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responds to routine customer complaints; gathers and trends data, investigates root causes, and responds to customer representatives
  • Completes customer-required documentation as necessary for select customers
  • Assists with equipment and product validations
  • Tracks change control process documentation and progress
  • Data entry as needed, including for customer complaints and CAPAs
  • Administers calibration database and tracks calibration due dates.  With the Quality Systems Compliance Manager, conducts internal instrument calibrations and works with external calibration vendors to ensure calibrations are conducted in a timely manner and all required paperwork is completed accurately and on-file.
  • Administers internal pest control program and works with external vendor(s) to ensure program is maintained, documented as required, and updated as necessary
  • Conducts daily sampling of the water system, works with external lab for testing, maintains test results and records
  • Ensures documentation is current, controlled and filed in accordance with the document control procedure. 
  • Maintains the nonconformance database, tracks due dates, and works with relevant stakeholders to ensure there is follow-up and extensions requested as needed
  • Maintains temperature and humidity monitoring programs, tracks logged data, maintains equipment
  • Ensures Quality training records are updated and submitted as required
  • Maintains accurate files and records, in compliance with customer, GMP and FDA regulations applicable to operations.  Files all reports as necessary in a timely manner to remain in compliance.
  • Helps to create an atmosphere that supports respect, honesty and open communication among all employees; encourages employees to celebrate accomplishments and have fun
